How to inspect a used car before buying
A practical checklist for history, condition, documents and a proper test.
The advert must match the vehicle
Check the VIN, year, engine, mileage and equipment. Several inconsistencies should be clarified before you travel.
History does not replace an inspection
Bodywork, suspension, brakes, diagnostics and cold-start behaviour still need a direct check. Ask for a clear explanation of visible defects.
Review documents before payment
The seller, ownership and vehicle documents must be consistent. For an imported car, confirm in advance which documents you receive.
